Don’t you love Spring?

I love spring. It’s a time for a new beginning. Sports are starting to be played, you can take off that coat you’ve been wearing all winter, and the animals are moving back into the neighborhood. The sun seems more charming, and the air feels more fresh (unless you live on the East side where sometimes all you smell is rotten eggs coming from the sugar beet factory). I love winter for the first couple of months and then it gets old. I feel depressed like I can’t do anything, and I’ve got that cabin fever. Now that it’s mid-March, it’s time for the Spring madness to begin. I cannot wait to go watch softball games and go for walks without a sweatshirt baring weight on me. To start Spring off, we need those rivers to rise a little to give some people a thrill. They like to take pictures like it’s Haley’s Comet or something. I guess I can’t really get on their case if they’re really into rising water that’s almost about to cover up bridges and streets, unless they are in the way of drivers. The flood keeps some people on their toes like those in Fargo and Moorhead-Best of luck to you guys!! For some people in East Grand Forks and Grand Forks, it’s old news. Like me, I just think it’s a hastle. I have to go around the whole town if I want to go to Wal Mart. And try driving over the Kennedy Bridge at 5:00. Uh-uh. Forget it. Once the river goes back down to it’s regular self we can all get back to our normal routines and we all enjoy are activities and the fact we can now roll down our windows when our favorite song comes on the radio in the car-maybe that’s just me. So, I’m excited. I am starting to see the sun, and I can’t wait for the strip of the sweat shirts. Plus, my birthday is in a month and a half, so bring it on Spring! I can’t wait to see ya!!!

my favorite memory

I don’t have one favorite memory. All of my favorite memories are mostly with my family. My most recent good memory is going to state with my softball team my senior year in high school. Many of my memories are when something was really funny like the time my family and I were checking into a hotel room. The number on the card said  113, my dad said that we would be in Room 1B. We had no idea what he was talking about because none of the doors had letters on it.  I looked at him and showed him that is said 113. The whole was hilarious because my dad was just doing silly things. I think the best memories are with your family.

This quote…

"A person is a person, no matter how small."- Dr. Seuss

I love this quote because it really says that no matter what our size or status is, we are people. No matter what we look like or who we are, we are equal and there is nobody who is better than another. I especially think of babies when I see this quote because they are usually the smallest. It’s frustrating to hear people say things like "I want to hold it," or "What are you gonna name it?" when they are referring to the baby. The word "it" is linked to a thing. A baby has rights, and he or she is not a thing because then that would make you and I a thing, and clearly we are not because we have life. And then we would also have to decide when a baby stops being a thing and becomes a human. Therefore, from the second we were all made, "A person is a person, no matter how small."

Winter Days

Every fall, I get the same feeling. "When is it gonna snow, so it can be a white and beautiful Christmas?" After we have that white Christmas, I cannot wait until the day I see the green grass again. Right now, I am dreaming of warm Spring weather. I can feel the grass between my toes and I can smell the fresh air.  I can see the sun shining and I can feel it on my skin. I can hear the birds and the layers are starting to come off of people. Right now, this is all a dream, but in a few months it will be hear, so keep on hanging one everyone.

Quirks about Me

1. I love the color purple. My room is purple, my toothbrush is purple, unfortunately, cars don’t usually come in purple :(

2. I’m OCD. I check the locks of the house before I leave the house more than once. If I see that the toilet lid is up, it must be down or it will bother me. If I hit a bump when I’m driving, I think I hit an animal or person and check in the mirror to see if I did.

3. I loooooooooovvvveeee Pumpkin Pie. Enough said.

4. I touch my face a lot when I am nervous about something or talking to someone about something uncomfortable. Sometimes I might rub or pick at it.

5. I like to watch shows like the Golden Girls, The Three Stooges and I Love Lucy. Older shows are exciting to me. (except the silent films).

6. I get easily distracted. Just ask anyone who knows me. They will tell you I’m the worst story teller because I get distracted.

why i write…

I write because I like the feeling of writing words. I’m a story-teller, but most people say I’m terrible at telling them, so I write them down. I write because I can free my mind without speaking a word. I write because that is how I can find out who I really am by seeing what my interests are that shape my thoughts and actions. I can become creative when I write. There is freedom in writing because it can take you on a journey you’ve never been down before. I write to make myself feel better. I write..to write.
